The person behind the pile

Hi, I'm Katie.

All of me.

Business owner. Engineer. Community person. Work in progress.

A little goofy. Very much me.

I own The Junkluggers of Brazos Valley. I love sewing, useful things, and finding a better way to do the work. I also know that owning a business doesn't magically make the rest of life less complicated.

Clearing a space has taught me something: stuff is rarely just stuff. There's a memory, a decision, or a "maybe someday" attached to it.

This is where I share what I'm learning about making room—in our homes, in our businesses, and in our lives. Practical ideas, honest questions, and occasional evidence that I do not have it all together.

You don't have to have everything figured out to take one useful next step.

Less clutter. More use.

Sustainability.

For actual life.

Keep useful things in use. Make a realistic plan for the things you're ready to release.

Keep It or Let It Go? Getting Past “Just in Case”

A simple rule for letting go of “just in case” stuff, plus how to handle broken things and family belongings.

Less guesswork. Clearer expectations.

Business advice.

From the middle of it.

I'm an engineer and a business owner. I like a useful system—and I'm still learning how to get it out of my head.

From my LinkedIn articles

Capability does not equal responsibility.

Being able to do a task doesn't automatically make it the best use of the owner's time.

Your vision isn't what you said.

What matters is whether your team can use it when a real decision gets complicated.

My locally owned business

The Junkluggers of Brazos Valley

A second life
for useful things.

Relief for people.

The Junkluggers of Brazos Valley is my locally owned business. We help people clear homes and working spaces, with care for the people involved and attention to donation and recycling when items and local capacity allow.

We help with home and business cleanouts, unwanted furniture, and the stuff that has piled up through a move or life change. We look for donation and recycling opportunities based on the condition of the items and what local partners can accept.

Your project.

My very human self.

Topics close to my heart: reuse, making room for what matters, and the real work of owning a business.
